How to help a water damaged camera?

i left my camera outside overnight and noticed it rained, so its obviously got water damage. Its in a bowl full of rice right now because i heard that rice helps suck the moisture out somehow. Its brown rice though so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. Is there any other way i can fix this problem besides buying a new camera and having it get fixed by a professional.
